Dear Editor

I write to add my thoughts to the growing opposition to the posposed alarming changes to the Chase Hotel and grounds.

Apartment buildings, houses and the conversion of the hotel into apartments -such a bad idea.

It was once that The Chase was the place to go, and it could be again. We need to find people with flair, money and expertise in hotel management to transform the hotel, which we all love, into a reivigorated, dynamic, lively and lovely place to spend time, possibly with spa facilities which would be available not only to guests but also to local people. What a lovely thought.

What a great visitor attraction bringing new life to the town. The alternative is a big increase in population who will put added strain on our already stretched services, such as the GPs, schools and, with the inevitable increase in cars, the roads. Plus the removal of the huge asset of The Chase. Ross without The Chase is unthinkable.
