POLICE are investigating after masked men raided a post office and a woman was assaulted in a Forest village last week.

The incident happened on Newnham High Street shortly before 6.30pm on Monday 28 April when two men entered the Shop at the Ship.

Gloucestershire Police said one man wearing dark clothing and a motorcycle helmet pushed a woman inside the store and stole a money tray from the till.

The other man had a backpack and stole multiple packs of tobacco from behind the counter.

He was wearing a face covering with a pattern of a green mouth and teeth on it.

He was described as being white, balding with shaven dark hair to the sides and back of his head, and was wearing dark clothing with a striped top on underneath a jumper.

The pair then left in a black Volkswagen T-Roc which was driven by a woman in the direction of Lydney.

Officers are keen to hear from anyone who saw the vehicle driving away or parked elsewhere.

A woman, aged in her 50s, was arrested on suspicion of robbery in connection with the incident. She was later released on bail while further enquiries take place.

No-one was physically injured but those present were shocked by the ordeal.

Officers attended and searched for the offenders, however they were not located.

Enquiries have been taking place, such as identifying possible CCTV and forensic examinations at the location, and the investigation continues.

Police are now keen to hear from anyone who witnessed what happened and has not already spoken to police.

They are also keen to hear from anyone who has dashcam footage of the vehicle or any CCTV which may be relevant.
