The Ross-on-Wye Horizon Centre hosts a regular drop-in coffee morning which is open to anyone wanting to find out more about what they do.
Potential service users, their carers, family members, prospective volunteers, care professionals, community organisations as well as local residents are welcome to attend. Coffee mornings are held every other Thursday from 10 am to 12 noon with the next one being held on May 3rd. They are an opportunity to show people what the centre is all about and what activities are available.
Maria Barnett told the Ross Gazette that they were delighted to welcome the Mayor of Ross, Councillor Nigel Gibbs, to their recent coffee morning.
She said: “’Our service users really enjoyed meeting the Mayor. They liked telling him what they enjoy doing at the centre.”
Renate, one of the service users said: “It was nice to meet the Mayor and I told him that I make cards and do some sewing.”
Clarissa Hill, one of the team who help run the centre said: “’The Ross-on-Wye Horizon Centre CIC is a social enterprise, trading for social purpose and local community benefit. We want to contribute in a positive way to the local community and our coffee mornings help support this.’”
Lou Elsmore added: “’We feel passionate about improving community-based services for adults with learning and other disabilities. We think that it is important to provide a supportive environment to build confidence, learn new skills, and develop independence while being in the heart of the local community – integration is key!”See this week’s paper for more stories like this, available in shops and as a Digital Edition now
