TWO local schools have been creating artwork for the forthcoming Wye Valley River Festival based on folklore and folkloric characters.

In preparation for the May Bank Holiday weekend event, organisers have been working with schools to help create the artwork inspired by land, myths and legends, as well as folk law, identity and the Earth.

Pupils from Weston Under Penyard Primary Ashfield Park Primary schools have been following the festival theme of Rare Earth.

The Wye Valley River Festival, which is held every two years, is returning to Monmouth to bring magic, merriment and a little mayhem to the town on May 2, as the community recovers from severe flooding. It will kick off with a lively parade.
