After last week’s cup loss to Brockhampton, it was a return to winning ways for Ross’ U15 cricketers on Monday, July 9th, with a good win over visitors Colwall. Ross have now won four from four in the Herefordshire Junior League in their aim to reach the North South final in August.

Alastair Cook and Alexander Springer opened the batting for Ross, Springer unfortunately being caught low down at mid wicket a few balls after striking a sumptuous on drive. This brought a flurry of wickets as Tai Minnie, Ben Fletcher, Luke Timewell and Mikey Nixon all went cheaply, while Ali Cook emulated his England namesake by accumulating runs at the other end to retire unbeaten on 52.

Adam Davies and Robbie Nixon joined together to accelerate the rate, attaining 45 run from the last four overs. The tried and tested opening bowling partnership of captain Adam Davies and Chloe Tingle restricted Colwall’s response and ensured the result was not in doubt by taking three for 16 from the first six overs.

Except for ’keeper Ben Fletcher, all the Ross players bowled, and all but one had a wicket as Colwall fell short by 55 runs finishing with 72 for eight.

Ross, sponsored by Now Storage Ltd, are top of the table with two games in two days left to play, hosting both Wormelow on Sunday morning and then Canon Frome on Monday evening.
