The Hereford FC Academy Under 18 side suffered their first League loss of 2019, going down 5-2 at Bromsgrove Sporting recently. The Hereford side played well, and it was a disappointing defeat.
Despite a storming opening that saw several efforts cleared off the line, and an early goal from Chris Hilton, the young Bulls were 3-1 down by half time. Jack Marston scored a second, and later had a penalty saved, but the final score finished 5-2.
Head Coach Dan Chance noted: “It was a particularly frustrating night as we could have been out of sight after 20 minutes. At times we were far too naive out of possession and not ruthless enough in front of goal. It was especially disappointing after some positive recent results.”
On Saturday, the four Academy sides in action are all away, with the Under 12s and Under 15s making short trips to RTC Herefordshire in Junior Premier League action. The Under 16 side travel to RTC Bham St Georges looking to continue their 100% record, while the Under 14s face RTC South Gloucestershire in the Elite League.
Sunday sees the only home match of the weekend, with the Women facing Wyre Forest Phoenix in the Bill Allsopp Memorial Trophy at Old School Lane (HR1 1EX). The game is free admission with the clubhouse open for refreshments.
Kick-off is 2pm, with the two sides having played out a pair of entertaining draws in the League this season.See this week’s paper for more stories like this, available in shops and as a Digital Edition now.
