A DOG show, games, and a packed programme of family entertainment await visitors to Walford Village Hall next month.
The much-loved family fun day and dog show returns to Walford Village Hall on Bank Holiday Monday, August 25, from 11am to 4pm, is a highlight of the local summer calendar and regularly attracts hundreds of families. The event aims to raise much-needed funds for the refurbishment of the village hall roof. Building on the success of the past three years, organisers are now appealing for both stallholders and volunteers to help make the event another resounding success.
The ever-popular dog show will be back, featuring ten light-hearted and entertaining classes including best fancy-dressed dog, waggiest tail, best sausage catcher, and King of the Show.
Families can look forward to a variety of traditional games such as splat the rat, hook-a-duck, and sack races. Face painting and a raffle will also add to the day’s entertainment.
A wide selection of stalls will offer everything from handmade crafts and local produce to hot food, sweet treats, and ice cream. Organisers are currently seeking local crafters, and small businesses to run stalls at the event. Affordable rates, good footfall, and both indoor and outdoor spaces make this a great opportunity for traders to engage with the community.
Volunteers are also needed to help on the day with tasks such as marshalling, running games, and supporting stallholders. Anthony Jones, trustee of Walford Village Hall, said: “Last year’s event was an amazing success, with so many people turning out to enjoy the sunshine and support our cause. “We’re building on that momentum this year and expect another fantastic day for the whole community.
“Events like this rely heavily on local support, so we’re asking for volunteers and stallholders to get in touch.”
