ROSS-on-Wye recently welcomed a colourful new addition to the High Street as a cosy and creative yarn shop, which opened to a crowd of eager knitters and crocheters.
The grand opening of Woolly and Fluff was launched by local textile artist Barbara Shaw.
The brightly coloured shop is the brainchild of Emma Williams, a passionate knitter and crocheter who saw a gap in the local market for a space that offers not just high-quality yarn, but also community, creativity, and connection.
“I wanted to create more than a shop,” Emma explained. “Woolly and Fluff is a place where people can come together, share their love of crafting, and learn from one another.”
The shop opening is the latest showing by independent traders that the High Street still has a purpose and a future.
In addition to a curated range of yarns in all colours and textures, the shop also features a welcoming workshop area where classes and social activities will be held.
Emma’s long-term vision for the shop is for the space to become a hub for crafters of all ages and skill levels.
The opening day buzz on Saturday reflected a growing interest in traditional crafts, which many find therapeutic and inclusive.
“Knitting and crochet is for everyone,” Emma added. “It’s about slowing down, creating with your hands, and being part of something bigger.”
With its warm atmosphere and community focus, Woolly and Fluff is already proving to be a hit with local people in its first week of trading. Upcoming events include social evenings and a beginners' crochet course.
